White wash it

Today it’s all about White!! Last week I painted 4 items, all of them Annie Sloan Pure White. On Monday I helped a friend paint her fireplace mantle. They recently changed out the tile around the fireplace and felt the dark wood needed to be changed as well. She chose Pure White and it looks great with her pretty glass tile.

So Pure White became the color of the week and I painted an entry table, a milk can and picture window mirrors white as well.

Color is a lot of fun but sometimes it just needs a white wash. I love how Pure White brightens up a room, and coat of clear wax leaves a lovely satin finish.

Thanks for checking out my post! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Quick and easy Candlestick project

IMG_4545

Looking to update some of the decorations in your home! This was an easy quick project. These candlesticks were black and olive green.

Love the shape of these but with a coat of Annie Sloan Pure White Chalk Paint these take on a whole new look. And because they already had some crackle affect, that added some character to the finish. A little distressing with a wet rag and finished with clear wax and they were done. Easy peasy 30 minute project!

What do you have in your home that you would like to update with a little Annie Sloan Chalk Paint?

Thanks as always for taking a look!

Kaitlyn’s Bedroom

I’ve been working on my daughter Kaitlyn’s bedroom for several months now. Painting furniture and walls and changing her bedding and window treatments. Here is a before picture of her room:

We were already starting to take things off the walls before I remembered to take the before picture. I do that a lot! ๐Ÿ˜›

As we were preparing to change up her room Kaitlyn helped by picking colors she liked for her furniture and her walls as well as her bedspread. We did a lot of searching and pinning on Pinterest and it’s finally come together.

Oh yes! I taped all those stripes! Definitely extra work but look how cute!! Completely worth the extra time and effort!

Kaitlyn really liked the blue, white, grey and yellow and I love how they all comeย together to make a fun room for a teenage girl! Fortunately after all the work I put in she loves it!!

I will post about her bedroom furniture and painting that striped wall soon and show before and after pictures. This was a boys bedroom set but with a little Louis Blue and Old White and a few changes to the hardware it’s now perfect for a girl!

This project took some time but I love how this turned out! Tell me what you think in the comments section. I would love to hear from you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Decoration Projects

I recently painted and stained a few home decoration items to put in my booth at Drab 2 Fab. I found someone not far from me that cuts wood projects from reclaimed wood. He was selling these arrows so I bought a few sets and stained some. The others I used ASCP and then gave them a clear wax finish. Easy project and ready to hang on the wall.

I bought this wood basket and wanted to give it a little color.

IMG_3801

I started painting it ASCP Arles before I remembered to take a before picture. ๐Ÿ˜‰ That happens a lot! So after a coat of the Arles I added a dry brushed coat of French Linen. Then distress and waxed it with a clear wax. I added Old White to the wax to give it a tint. You can add any color of chalk paint to wax to change up the finish.

Love this cute wood basket! Annie Sloan Arles will always be one of my favorite colors!ย ๐Ÿ™‚

And last, I bought this fun old window that someone had added sheet music to.

The pink was a bubble gum pink and not something that will fit into everyone’s decor so I painted it with Old white and French Linen leaving just a little pink poking through. Then I added a vine wreath and a flower accent.

Annie Sloan Chalk paint goes on everything and is so easy to use! Be creative and find fun things to make your own!

Old barn ladder

I’m not an interior decorator but I do want my home to be beautiful. I love finding new and interesting things to add to my home to make it mine. I’ve always loved old things. Vintage, antique, shabby chic! But I wouldn’t say that describes my decor. I usually go with whatever I like and make it work. But if my hubby would let me I would live in a 100 year old house with tons of character and a wrap around porch. I would have a pink and blue, shabby chic to the hilt bedroom and a vintage farm kitchen. Of course I would also need a big red barn in the back yard…….ya non of this is happening! ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha I’ve tried to talk him into it but he just rolls his eyes and reminds me how much work would go into an old home. And because he is the handy one around the house and would be doing all the repairs, I can understand where he’s coming from.

I am not complaining because I actually love my home. But it never hurts to dream a little right!?!

Lately I have been stalking the Facebook Yard Sale sights looking for fun things to paint. This week I came across something amazing and I was lucky enough to be the first one to see it. So I bought it! Wanna see it! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oldbarnladder6

So maybe I can’t have the big red barn in the back yard but I can have the barn ladder in my dining room!! I fell in love with this the second I saw it. And it is perfect the way it is. I don’t know how old it is but the lady I bought it from said it came from an old barn in Idaho. It was built with whatever wood was laying around, the nails are old and rusty and some are sticking out of the wood and it’s aged to perfection! I cannot tell you how much I love this!

Oldbarnladder8

I have only had this for a few days but every time I see it I smile! I think home should be filled with your favorite people and things that make you happy. You don’t have to be an expert to make your home beautiful to you.

Tell me what you think of the ladder and I would love to hear what some of your favorite finds are in your home.
